Ok, we’re back. Mikaila had some more bouts of de-satting so her team bumped up her oxygen intake a smidge. Again, that isn’t at all a big deal. She simply needs a few days to allow her lungs to catch up with the rest of her body. Keep in mind, she has grown 60% (in body weight) in one month.
I do have some significant news to report. During rounds, her team determined that Mikaila’s system was strong enough to accommodate additional volume during feeds. She was bumped up to 20 mls every 3 hours. She handled the incremental amount during her 2pm and 5pm feeds without issue.
They will likely weigh her at 11 so stay tuned.

Quick Update: We called just a moment ago to check on her weight. Mikaila gained 35grams today. She has blown passed the 1 kg mark and stands at 1015 grams or a hair under 2 lbs 4 ounces.

...all fashions are also from DAD. He must get his due credit for the milestone gifts. Otherwise, believe me, I WILL hear from him about that! :)
I don't know how well the pictures capture it, but the peanut's hair has gotten much lighter-kinda strawberry blonde now. (It was black originally)SUPER CUTE!
My only concern is that Kelly doesn't get all the credit 'cause then Mikaila will like her best and we can't have that!
Mikaila has sooo much to look forward to and to have Kelly at the top of her list would be intolerable to many.
Is she smiling? I swear she's smiling! Oh,I know, they'd say its gas and she's much too young to smile. But I say, forget temporal considerations with Mikaila. Like everything else, she's going to the head of the class in smiling 101...My guess is she's pondered the whole optimist/pessimist thing and made a lifestyle decision and right now she's practicing being delighted.
Now, the strawberry blonde hair PROVES she's taking after Grandma II who had that color hair as a baby ...
I can't believe they are thinking of moving such a small, helpless person... other than in the gentle embrace of her mother or the protective arms of her father. Better yet, I think I have to do this myself... where's that hospital phone number?...

Just a note about that smiling issue- I was talking to Pam, one of Mikaila's favorite nurses. She said that the theory of smiling being caused by gas in a baby so young is no longer the accepted one. They now feel that the smiling is due to the baby actually feeling pleasure- so YES, she's definitely delighted, Charlene! Probably because she's happy with Aunt Kelly's fashion sense when it comes to preemie clothes.
