Well, this will be our last post with Mikaila residing at the NICU at Albany Med. We are "Rooming In" tonight, staying in a little room just off of the NICU with our daughter at our side. I believe I've referred to the Intermediate Care area as the baby half-way house. Well, I think the Rooming In area effectively serves as the half-way house for parents. She still has a nurse assigned to her so we certainly have backup should we encounter any issues.
As I write this I am sitting at the shared computer in the Ronald McDonald Family Room just one door down from the NICU. I'll have to get off of this machine soon as other families deserve equal time. There really isn't much to report at this point. She won't be weighed for quite a while. I'll do a post at some point tomorrow but don't hold your breath. We probably won't sleep at all tonight and tomorrow will be action packed. I'll do my best to keep everyone apprised but understand that we will have our hands full.

With a touch over 8 weeks of blogs on Grow Mikaila Grow that celebrate the remarkable progress made by Mikaila, the love for her exhibited by Dara and Kimmy and the very positive comments from family and friends, it looks like Mikaila is graduating from the Albany Medical Center to take up her permanent residence in Alplaus-a magical transition that we have all looked forward to. To see pictures of her in her 4+# physical state when just 7 weeks ago I photographed her when she was less than her birth weight of 1#-5oz is truly amazing. May god bless her and provide for her continued progress in her new environment.
We have all loved reading about Mikaila's progress. She is a miracle. Now Dara, Kim and Mikaila deserve to enjoy the weekend to adjust to being home together! Hopefully, by monday Dara will let all of us know how things went. God bless and enjoy.
The day is finally here! The Boyle "elves" busily readied the house into the wee hours last night. Her little lungs will have no dust to contend with. With baby gear assembled and in place, she should feel snug as a bug in her new home. Yeaahhhh!!!
Thank you so much, Dara and Kim, for sharing these first few weeks of your precious daughter with all of us. I feel that we're all the richer for it (although I feel I know Mikaila more than I know either of you). My thoughts are with you as you three make the transition from NICU to home.
Keep in touch....Dara, I'm sure you'll be writing blogs at 3 and 4 am, up with Mikaila, as every dad should be with a 2 month old at home. Haha!!! I laugh because I'm happy that you and Kim are finally going to get the true parenting experience with your little peanut at home.
Love and hugs.
