And the winner is...............

Ok, this will have to be quick as I am in holding Mikaila right now and will be in charge of her for the bulk of the overnight. At the final weigh in, Mikaila weighed...

Wait for it.......

Wait for it............

5 lbs 13 1/2 ounces.

So, we do not have a winner. We have a new contest per the ruling by Bill. Diane & Breida, please submit your guesses for a new final weigh in in two weeks. Look through the comments for detail on the tiebreaking contest.

How very fitting that we have a full moon tonight in honor of Mikaila's reaching her fullness. Most babies are born during full moons... Mikaila's father for instance. Dara came 2 weeks early right at the full moon. As a Yoga teacher I regretted having to stop my daily headstand during that last month. Apparently we just don't have the muscles for holding babies upside down.

It is truly a miracle that outside of her rightful environment Mikaila has grown to be a healthy full-sized baby girl. Since the moment she came into our lives, amidst such a cloud of worry and formidable odds, this child has brightened our world.
May God Bless Mikaila and, like the moon, may she always best the odds, overcome life's eclipses and rise above it all to light our lives.

Ok, My new quess and beautiful Mikaila's weight in two weeks (14 days) should be 7 lbs.
Good luck Breida.

ONE DOLLAR, BOB!! ONE DOLLAR!!!
WOOOHOOOO!

as some of you know, there is an advantage to being the final bidder or the second bidder in the event that one makes it to the showcase showdown.

so my guess (as long as Diane's remains 7 lbs.) is 6 lbs.

i know that sounds dismal but i am just trying to play the game (read: WIN!) i know that Mikaila will keep steady at her breakneck pace of weight gain but i don't think she will quite make it to 7 lbs. thus, my low guess to avoid going over.

ONE DOLLAR, BOB! ONE DOLLAR!!

I have to be honest, Breida's guess is not really within the spirit of the contest. The objective should be to guess Mikaila's actual weight, not to game the system. Certainly within the letter of the law but not within it's spirit. I don't care for it but the rules were set so I will obide by them.

one more thing. . .
i have been wondering all along who some of the posters are on this blog. some i have figured out on my own but some of you i have no idea. Diane, for instance--my co-competitor.

I am Kim's first cousin. Her father, is my mother's brother.

pleased to meet you all. introduce yourselves if you want.

does anyone know--is Mikaila my second cousin? cousin once removed?

anyone?

Breida, I think you had a good idea. One should take into account that if both are over this could go on forever. At this point since I didn't win and no one will "buy" my number I guess I have no horse in this race. I wish all good luck! Take into account I will no longer be putting extra food into her bottle. ( I was trying to get to 5 lbs 14.5 oz). And since she didn't reach my number I'm limiting my hrs. of baby sitting to 18 per day. The thought of more than 4hrs sleep at one time makes Kim giggle. I've become expert at bottle washing, toast making, coffee drinking, bottle filling, running erands, lawn mowing, dog playing. I'm trying to put this into a resume of sort. After retiring I keep wondering what my next career will be. (ie babysitter ?) Anyway I'm soon leaving for my home in South Venice Beach,FL. But shall return in a month or so. Anyway this has been quite an experience and my prayers are with Kim and Dara. Mikaila is a handful and has everyone wrapped around her cute fingers.

Breida, I think 2nd cousin. Not sure as in our family we don't track such things as it would limit marital prospects.
